What is a passkey?

Passkey is a simple, passwordless way to use your wallet. It allows you to sign in and confirm actions (withdrawals, exchanges) without entering usernames, passwords, or codes — with a face or fingerprint (or other way you use to unlock your device). You can use a passkey instead of two-factor authentication (2FA).

Passkeys are secure because they use public key cryptography, which relies on a pair of keys — a public key and a private key. The private key is used to create a one-time signature to prove your identity and authorise actions. The corresponding public key is used only to verify that the signature is valid. Even if someone obtains your public key, they cannot access your account/wallet without the private key.

To keep your wallet secure, passkey (or 2FA) is required for:

  • Withdrawals;
  • Managing allowed or blocked IP addresses.

You can also choose to enable passkey for:

  • Signing in to your wallet;
  • Confirming exchanges;
  • Setting limits for withdrawal and exchange.
