Special features of creating Solana and Ripple addresses
Solana: Rent
The first time this address receives funds, some part of the transaction fee is covering the so-called rent fee to create the account.
- Rent: ~0.00203 SOL (may change).
- If you close(burn) the account (address), the rent is returned to you to the provided address.
- You can't burn a Solana address in NC Wallet.
Ripple (XRP): Reserve
XRP requires a minimum balance to keep an account active.
If an XRP address has not been activated yet, the minimum reserve is taken from the first incoming transfer.
For example: a user sends 10 XRP to a new address. The network reserve is 1 XRP. After activation: 1 XRP becomes the required reserve and cannot be spent. 9 XRP are available on the balance.
Note: the base reserve is not the transaction fee. If someone sends you XRP for the first time, part of that transfer will be held to create the reserve. If you close the account, part of the reserve is returned to you and part is kept by the network as a deletion fee.
